On April 1, 2016 an important change impacting new drivers and their Graduated Driver’s License program will be implemented. The learner/beginner phase of obtaining a Class 5 Newly Licensed Driver License will now take 12 months rather than 6 months to complete. However, with an approved Driver Training program the new driver can obtain this Class 5 License in 9 months. The government’s announcement with full details of this change can be viewed here.
It is important to note that if the new driver has their Learner’s License before April 1, 2015 then these changes will NOT have an impact.
